Spanish Flamenco pianist Pedro Ricardo Mino; Tibetan 'Terton', 76 year old Kunzang Rinpoche and the Monks & Nuns of Zangdookpalri; Sufi ?Ney? Master, Omar Faruk Tekbilek & his Ensemble; The Hani Nasser Band,with Walfredo Reyes Jr., Armand Sabal-Lecco and Craig Eastman; composer, Richard Horowitz will perform a World Premiere of his ?tour de force? composition written especially for this event.

The festival and concert are a part of the World Festival of Sacred Music ? Los Angeles, initiated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1999. As a prelude to the all-day Festival, organizers are also presenting the Sounds of the Sacred Awards Gala on the evening of Wednesday, September 13. The evening will recognize extraordinary spiritual, humanitarian and artistic contributions to society. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will receive the special Jewel of Light Peace Award for his continued devotion to compassion, love and understanding among the brotherhood and sisterhood of mankind.Honorees for the Spiritual Guide, Artistic Light , Humanitarian Jewel, and Lifetime Achievement Awards will be announced in the near future.

The Sounds of the Sacred Festival and Award Gala are programs of the Living Wellness Foundation. Founded in 1997, the Foundation presents numerous, community-based programs throughout the year to help promote cross-cultural awareness, artistic expression and an appreciation for the benefits of creativity in one?s life. The Topanga Canyon-based Foundation?s programs and forums incorporate sacred music, theater, film, art and literature to achieve these goals.
