Guru Shakya Pandit is said to be on of the three manifestation of Manjushri. The other two being the great Nyingma Lama Long Chen Rabjampa and Gelugpa Lama Guru Tsongkhapa. Guru Shakya Pandit was immensly learned lama versed in five branches of learning. In Tibet Guru Shakya Pandit was recognized as master debater at par with Indian Guru Dharmakirti. Guru Shakya Pandit vanquished all his opponents both Buddhist and Non Buddhist in debate. On hearing the erudities of Guru Shakya Pandit, Mangol Prince Godan invited him to his capital. Since then the abbots of Shakya monastery entered into a new era in the Tibetan political scenario (1270-1340). Guru Shakya Pandit protected the system of Path and Fruit doctrine (in Sanskrit Margaphala Siddhant). Being an emanation of Manjushri Guru Shakya Pandit is also generally depicted holding a sword and a book.
