Born with the very auspicious circle of hair between the eyebrows (found on the young Shakyamuni and known as one of the thirty-two marks of an enlighted being).
Was recognized by Khyabgon Drukchen and Migyur Wanggi Gyalpo, Jamgon Kongtrul, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo , Terchen Chokgyur Lingpa, and Pawo Tsuklak Nyinche.
Was given a very thorough education from great scholars and eventually received the Kagyu transmissions from Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye.
Continued his activities of teaching and giving empowerments throughout Tibet and preserved many rare texts by having them reprinted.
Was the first in the line of Karmapas to marry, and he had three sons, one of whom was recognized as the second Jamgon Kongtrul.
His closest disciples were Tai Situ Pema Wangchuk Gyalpo, Jamgon Kongtrul Khyentse Oser, and Beru Khyentse Lodro Mize Jampe Gocha.
Before passing into parinirvana, he entrusted a prediction letter to his closer attendan |
