Shakyamuni Buddha when entered into a special type of samadhi called Sarvadurgatiparisodhana i.e. elimination of all evil destinies, it is called Durgatiparisodhanaraja Buddha. This sculpture is very rare. But there are many paintings of this deity in Nepal. Durgatiparisodhanaraja Buddha is yellow in color. Durgatiparisodhanaraja Buddha exhibits Dharmachakramudra and has one face and two arms only. Durgatiparisodhanaraja Buddha is described in the Durgatisodhana mandala of Nispannayogavali. His dharani is very popular among Nepalese Buddhists and is very often recited in front of a dead body or in funeral ceremonies. On the requestof Devaraja Indra Shakayamuni Buddha out of compassion for the deva Vamalamaniprabha who was reborn in Avici Hell, delivered the dharani of Durgatiparisodhanaraja Buddha which can liberate the beings from the hells like Avici.
