Kanakamuni Buddha (also Konagamana) was the second Buddha of this Bhadrakalpa. Kanakamuni Buddha was born in Shobhavati. His parents were brahmana Yakshadutta and Uttarani. His wife was Rucigatta and his son was Sarthavaha. Kanakamuni Buddha enjoyed this worldly pleasure for three thousand years. After his renunciation Kanakamuni Buddha practised his austerities for six months. Kanakamuni Buddha attained his supreme enlightenment at the foot of Udumbara tree. His first sermon was attended by 30000 monks near Sudarsana Nagara. His body was 30 cubits high. Kanakamuni Buddha passed away at the Pabbatarama at the age of 30000 years. Kanakamuni Buddha during his career also visited Swyambhu Kshetra in Kathmandu valley. After his Parinirvana, a stupa was erected near Kapilavastu at Niglihawa in the Western Terai region of Nepal. This has been confirmed by the Ashokan inscription. Kanakamuni Buddha is generally represented by yellow in color. His right hand has Abhayamudra and his left hand is in dhyanamudra.
