The young prince Siddharatha left his palace in search of enlightenment and practiced for six years such severe austerities and intense mental concentration that his beautiful body withered away to skin and bones.
Padmapani means lotus – in – hand. Padmapani’s left hand holds the stalk of the lotus. The right hand, opening upward, is raised in a gesture of granting favors, which also indicates his readiness to help.
