Trekking In Nepal

Trekking around Annapurna , Tilicho Lake and Dhaulagiri Trek

Trekking around Annapurna, Tilicho Lake and Dhaulagiri trek covers part of the famous Annapurna circuit (described as the most diverse trek in the world), and to Tilicho lake, the highest lake in Nepal at 4900m, if the weather permits. The lake lies in a narrow valley and it can be avalanche prone if there is early snowfall. We will cross the Mesokanto pass (5123m) into the Kali Gandaki valley. Should the weather not permit this then we would take the normal route and cross the Thorung la pass (5415m) into the Kali Gandaki valley.

Trekking around Dhaulagiri is an exceptional wilderness experience that passes through staggering alpine terrain. Until recently few trekkers ever attempted it but now foreign trekking companies advertise it along side standard treks. It isn't standard, being tough and demanding and has shocked many trekkers who expected something similar to the Annapurna Circuit or the Everest trek. It is better labeled as an extreme route; extreme, because you need an ice-axe and crampons, and if anyone (I.e. porters) don't have these, a rope is necessary too. Going without a guide is for mountaineers only. With its extended high altitude nature it should only be attempted when snow-free - from late September to December, or perhaps May and early June.

The reason we have planned the trek from the Annapurna range and the Tilicho Lake is to provide ample time for group members, staff and more importantly the porters to acclimatize properly before going into the Dhaulagiri range with an attempt on Dhampus peak at 6035m in contrast, all companies say they have a good acclimatisation plan but 95% of them go the normal route, going clockwise, which involves huge gains in altitude of more than 1600m in a day. Chances of acute altitude sickness are high going this conventional way.

I invite you to come join this expedition style trek amongst some of the most stunning and tough, but extremely rewarding, terrains. This would be one of the ultimate adventures in the Himalaya. We have quoted a low price to this adventure to encourage more people to join in this adventure of a life time. In the spirit of Adventure we have quoted the price on a near cost to cost basis.
